On Friction, Heat Input, and Material Flow Initiation during Friction Stir Welding: Tool and Process Optimization
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process depends entirely upon mechanical contact between the tool and workpiece. As a result of this, all phenomena outcomes such as weld geometry properties are governed by FSW’s frictional system. following work characterizes this system with focus on initialization, heat input material flow. For purpose, an experimental program for isolated investigation was carried out. Short-term effects initiation, run-in behavior transitions considered well influences parameters geometry. its analyzed quantitatively qualitatively experiments altering normal pressure, relative velocity, demonstrate self-similar process, including important wear transition which initiates flow, subsequent equilibrium forces, balance, temperatures. interaction welded is described, link interface flow initialization. Based these findings, recommendations provided optimization design.

Friction Stir Welding Process Optimization: Experimental Methods
Introduction The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process is an innovative technique to join metals in the plasticity field, thus not reaching the melting temperature and consequently the liquid state as it happen in traditional welding processes. This feature of the FSW proved an enhancement of the fatigue behaviour and strength of the joints, leading some companies to adopt the process for the man...
متن کاملOptimization of Friction Stir Welding Tool Advance Speed via Monte-Carlo Simulation of the Friction Stir Welding Process
Recognition of the friction stir welding process is growing in the aeronautical and aero-space industries. To make the process more available to the structural fabrication industry (buildings and bridges), being able to model the process to determine the highest speed of advance possible that will not cause unwanted welding defects is desirable. A numerical solution to the transient two-dimensi...

High-strength low alloy steels are a class of steels used in applications that require high strength and good weldability, including ship hulls, gas pipelines and oil industry. One way to build parts is fusion welding that create areas with a large grain size in the heat-affected zone and increased susceptibility to hydrogen cracking. One way to solve this problem is to use solid state friction...

This work deals with the modeling of the material flow in Friction Stir Welding (FSW) processes using particle tracing method. For the computation of particle trajectories, three accurate and computationally efficient integration methods are implemented within a FE model for FSW process: the Backward Euler with Substepping (BES), the 4-th order Runge-Kutta (RK4) and the Back and Forth Error Com...
